The Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to organizations committed to improving our world. Solutions to the problems of today's world still lie in the values of innovation, practicality, hard work, and compassion.

The Foundation considers applications for grants in the following areas:

• Education
• Social Service
• Health care
• Civic and cultural
• Environmental

The categories above are not intended to limit the interest of the Foundation from considering other worthwhile projects. In general, the Foundation guidelines are broad to give us flexibility in providing grants.

The majority of our grants are made in the U.S. However, like Dr. Scholl, we recognize the need for a global outlook. Non-U.S. grants are given to organizations where directors have knowledge of the grantee.

Philanthropy is our commitment to communities in which we operate and broader society. We focus our resources on a limited number of key projects that can deliver valuable benefits from our contributions and those of our partners. We give priority to innovative, high-quality projects that meet the following criteria:

• promote sustainable development
• offer an opportunity for Roche to use its expertise and logistics capabilities
• involve Roche actively at an early stage with local authorities and established partners
• engage Roche employees in cultural (focus on contemporary arts), educational and social activities
• managed by an accredited charity

Our four focus areas

We direct the majority of our philanthropic donations to humanitarian and social development projects.

We are dedicated to programmes that promote scientific interest and provide educational opportunities for young people around the world.

We are committed to building stronger communities and responding to natural disasters sustainably.

We support groundbreaking contemporary art, cultural projects and activities that explore the parallels between innovation in art and in science. 

The FAWCO Foundation Development Grant

The purpose of the program is to fund projects that can make an immediate impact and lead to success for the people they support. The assistance offered should be direct, with a goal of sustainability.

Through The Foundation, FAWCO Member Clubs and FAUSA have been aiding worthy and reputable charitable projects around the globe for over 50 years. Some clubs are working “hands-on” with their projects while others make financial contributions or donations of goods. The Development Grants provide the financial assistance that can help the recipients achieve their goals.

The Foundation encourages FAWCO clubs to nominate grassroots organizations that receive little to no sponsorship or support from other sources.

Grant Categories

Education

For projects:

• promoting literacy and supporting academic studies,
• that build or provide classrooms, libraries or general learning facilities for disadvantaged women/children, 
• that provide training designed to lead to economic and social empowerment for women and girls.

Human Rights

For projects:

• providing vocational training, teaching practical skills, promoting social entrepreneurial initiatives for at-risk/marginalized population groups,
• addressing the critical problems of violence, food and shelter, healthcare, education, poverty, advocacy, human trafficking, prostitution, refugees, including all those impacted by economic, political or other forced migration,
• promoting cultural understanding

Global Issues

For Projects:

• that fall within any of the FAWCO focus areas with which we align our Development Grants i.e., Education, Environment, Health or Human Rights.
• that recognize club’s local charities often overlooked on the world stage, 
• that take place in the nominating club's home country.

Helping the Disadvantaged Become Self-Reliant

Gupta Family Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, USA. Our mission is to support organizations that provide focused intervention in the lives of people who have been disadvantaged in some way to help them become self-reliant. We take a very broad view of “disadvantage” to include anything that holds a person back from realizing their potential, such as poverty, physical or mental disability, social alienation, etc. The foundation also supports relief agencies that serve people affected by emergencies such as natural disasters.

The foundation evaluates and awards annual and multi-year grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000 (USD). Our focus is on funding smaller organizations all around the world that are led by individuals with a deep personal commitment to their missions. 

Our selection criteria include:

• Mission alignment
• The organization is run by the founder or, if not, by a successor who embodies the original inspiration, passion and commitment of the founder.
• At least 90% of grant monies reaches the intended beneficiaries.
• The organization is non-sectarian, i.e.,
  • It does not, directly or indirectly, support or condone the proselytization of any religion,
  • It is not supported by or affiliated to a religious organization.

Charitable Contributions

Costco Wholesale’s primary charitable efforts specifically focus on programs supporting children, education, and health and human services in the communities where we do business. Throughout the year we receive a large number of requests from nonprofit organizations striving to make a positive impact, and we are thankful to be able to provide support to a variety of organizations and causes. While we would like to respond favorably to all requests, understandably, the needs are far greater than our allocated resources and we are unable to accommodate them all.

Warehouse Donations:

Warehouse donations are handled at the warehouse level - please consult your local warehouse for up-to-date information regarding their donations contacts and review process.

Grant Applications

If the request is under consideration, you may be contacted by staff for any additional information needed. Applications are reviewed within 4-6 weeks, and decisions are made based on several factors, including: type of program; identified community need not otherwise available; indication that evidenced based data will establish measurable results of intended outcomes; community collaboration; broad base of financial support; project budget and operating expenses.

Mission

The DanPaul Foundation will use its resources to help train teachers and parents in early childhood development, protect children from abuse and neglect, stimulate children's personal social responsibilities, and offer them opportunities for enrichment and growth.

The Foundation will also encourage children to be concerned and informed about the environment and the underprivileged, particularly with regard to clean air and water, and adequate housing and nutrition for all.

Beliefs

The DanPaul Foundation believes that children should have ample opportunities for enrichment in their lives, and thus strives to provide many different ways to enrich and expand children's minds through direct programs and monetary support to organizations doing similar work.

We have provided or currently provide grants related to the following program areas:

• Workshops, Conferences, + Seminars: We strive to offer educational workshops, conferences, and seminars for parents and teachers on topics related to early childhood development.
• Student Scholarships: We aim to help students attending post-secondary education institutions by providing need-based and academic scholarships.
• Scientific Endeavors: We desire to advance scientific endeavors which seek to improve the quality of life for everyone in the world.
• Clean Air + Water: We hope to pass on knowledge and practical life skills to youth regarding their personal responsibility to the environment, teaching them about issues surrounding clean air and water.
• Child Advocacy: We believe in protecting children from abuse and neglect and particularly love to support programs that provide education and assistance to children as well as organizations advocating or caring for vulnerable children.
• Homelessness: We want to encourage young people to take a personal interest in seeing that adequate housing and proper nutrition, especially for the underprivileged and homeless, are available.
• Poverty + Neglect: We seek to help those in poverty as well as educate youth about their responsibility to consider the underprivileged and take care of those most in need of life's basic essentials like adequate housing and proper nutrition.
• Refugee Enrichment: We wish to help refugee youth by supporting programs that provide them enrichment and help them transition to life in a new country.

The DanPaul Foundation provides grants to 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit organizations as defined by the IRS. The Foundation is interested in providing funding to programs that directly serve the health, education, development, and welfare of the world's youth.

Grants range from a few hundred dollars up to $15,000 per calendar year.

The Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation Vision

The Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation, "A Foundation for All", was established in 2002. It was begun in order to give a clear voice for those who wish to be a part of the many, worthy, forces for change in our world.

We will consider proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations that are finding new ways to address societal issues facing the nonprofit community. Applicants must have held 501(c)(3) status for one year before submitting. If your organization has held 501(c)(3) status for over a year, and your believe that your organization has a new approach to an existing social problem or is addressing a previously unaddressed social issue, you are welcome to contact us and request that we consider your organization for a funding opportunity.

Philosophy

Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF) is a private foundation incorporated in New York State. The purpose of the foundation is to fund several charitable causes. These causes may be broadly classified as being (i) Social (ii) Educational or (iii) Religious/Cultural.

Our principles and philosophy, derived from the value system of Hinduism, may be succinctly summarized as:

Social Welfare

This category addresses the inequalities faced by people who do not have access to the most basic of human rights. The standard of living today varies, by several orders of magnitude, between the most and least fortunate of people, and there are many people for whom even basic material needs are not met. Our goals are to improve the lives of these people and give them the tools to break out of the cycle of poverty they live in.

Projects in this category include providing food and shelter to vulnerable populations (orphanages, old age homes); increasing children's access to education; improving the educational environment; empowering women & children; improving rural health outcomes; and, generally, uplifting disadvantaged communities.

Higher Education 

This category addresses the human quest to understand the physical world we live in, and the natural laws that govern it. This quest for knowledge is best nurtured in higher study programs of universities and research labs, and our goal is to motivate students to pursue these programs.

Projects under this category include providing financial support for deserving students through fellowships at well recognized universities and research labs.

Spirituality, Arts & Culture

This category addresses the non-materialistic aspects of human life and its power to nourish, inspire & uplift the human spirit. Hindu culture and spiritual viewpoints have evolved over many millenia, and our goal is to remember and preserve these roots, while at the same time promoting cultural integration and co-existence with other viewpoints.

Projects under this category include activities related to preserving the traditional roots of Hinduism by supporting ashrams/patashalas and temples, and promoting cultural integration by supporting programs that raise awareness of India's traditional art forms, and culture.

Environment

This category addresses the preservation of the environment we live in. The Earth sustains us and provides for us, and we need to preserve and nurture it for our sake and for the sake of future generations. Our goal is to fulfill our responsibility by taking care of the environment we live in.

Projects under this category include clean water management initiatives, planting trees, and other such activities.

AKC Humane Fund: Uniting animal lovers

Pets touch our lives in so many ways. That's why the AKC Humane Fund's mission is to support various pet related causes across the nation. The AKC Humane Fund unites all animal lovers by promoting the joy and value of responsible pet ownership through education, outreach and grant-making. Every day, we work hard to give back to dogs on a broad and sustainable scale but nobody can do it alone. It takes a community of dog lovers working together to make a difference.

Women’s Shelters Grant

The AKC Humane Fund is proud to be the leading organization that provides financial assistance to domestic abuse shelters that accept pets. Our grants make it easier for women’s shelters to welcome pets and help break the cycle of domestic abuse. Apply for a grant and tell us how you are helping pet owners at your facility.

The Mary Kay Ash Foundation Domestic Violence Shelter Grant Program was started in 2000, awarding grants to shelters across the country providing critical, life-saving services to women and children seeking safety from an abusive situation.

We are unwavering in our pledge to carry on the good work of assisting excellent programs that provide hope and refuge for women and children experiencing violence. With persistence and determination, together we can surely achieve our shared goal of eradicating domestic violence from the world!

Helping Victims Of Domestic Violence And Sexual Assault

Build Awareness, Offer Solutions, And Address Needs

The Robin McGraw and Dr. Phil Foundation is devoted to helping advance organizations and programs that serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and individuals facing crisis to live healthy, safe and joy-filled lives. We also support communities that have been severely affected by disasters.

Dr. Phil McGraw, the most well-known mental health professional in the world launched his award-winning daytime talk show in 2002. Dr. Phil has used his platform to make psychology accessible and understandable to the general public by addressing important personal and social issues. In 2003, Dr. Phil established the Dr. Phil Foundation funding many worthy organizations benefitting disadvantaged families and children.

What We Fund

The following areas are eligible for grant consideration from the foundation: 

Domestic Violence

Emphasis is given to programs that help domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual traffic victims live healthy, safe and joy-filled lives by providing shelter, support, education, counseling and healing. Preference is given to prevention of domestic violence, the expansion of services and improvements to infrastructure or buildings that positively impact survivors.

Children and Foster Care

Emphasis is given to organizations that seek to provide a strong foundation for the social, emotional, educational and spiritual well-being of children, providing them with access to critically needed services, including safe and loving homes, hunger relief, medical and mental health services, education and job training.

Additionally, we support the importance of family reunification and adoption. Priority is given to organizations affecting change in the foster care system to improve outcomes and create positive experiences for children.

Disaster Relief

In the event of national and international crises, resources will be made available for restricted donations to be received. Support may not be solicited.

Sourcing & review

Projects are sourced from public applications and a global network of partners and donors. They are narrowed down to a group of finalists whose ideas are representative of a broad range of geographies and issue areas while elevating leaders with proximity to the communities they serve.

Idea shaping & investment support

Each finalist project goes through a rigorous ideation, due diligence, and investment support process, to ensure their proposal is achievable and compelling.

Funding & launch

Finalist projects are presented privately to groups of donors and are then publicly unveiled at TED. Funded projects then pursue their plans and share regular updates on key milestones reached with donors and the public.

  • There should be a sense of where you will be at the end of a multi-year funding term and the strategy, resources and timeline required to achieve it. We want to hear about the changes that would take place because of your idea, not just the components that go into implementing it.

• Established support
  • You and your capable and confident team have the backing of a nonprofit, NGO, or institution (or is part of a collaboration between multiple such entities). This organization should be able to receive philanthropic funds and have the core infrastructure necessary to support the work. (Note: Past projects have had an annual operating budget of $1 million or more.)

Health & Comfort Program

The DVNF Health & Comfort Program expands DVNF’s reach into veteran communities throughout the United States, bringing tangible aid to veterans who are disabled, low-income, or homeless, in ways we otherwise could not.

Through our Health and Comfort program DVNF distributes our signature Comfort Kits to struggling veterans throughout the country. These kits provide vital necessities such as health and hygiene items, clothing, and more to veterans of all walks of life. The contents of our Comfort Kits vary based on our inventory, however, we always strive to include quality and full-sized items such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste, razors, deodorant, a t-shirt, a pair of socks, sunscreen, Band-Aids, etc…

DVNF has also recently created our own signature Women’s Kits. These kits were created to supplement our Comfort Kits and make sure our too often overlooked female veterans have the personal care items they truly need. Our Women’s Kits always include feminine hygiene items as they can be especially difficult and expensive for struggling women to obtain. Whether it’s a year-round veteran program, homeless shelter, veteran Stand Down event, or an outreach event like the Warrior Games, DVNF is here to make a positive impact on the lives of the men and women who stood in defense of our nation.

True Inspiration Awards

The True Inspiration Awards® program was created in 2015 to honor the legacy of Chick-fil-A® founder S. Truett Cathy. Through these annual grants, it is our pleasure to celebrate and support nonprofit organizations making an impact in their local communities.

One organization will be selected as the S. Truett Cathy Honoree. The S. Truett Cathy Honoree embodies the generous, innovative spirit of Chick-fil-A’s late founder — pioneering new ways to solve problems and serve others.

Category winners

In 2025 we will continue to support nonprofits with a total commitment of $6 million in grants ranging from $30,000-$350,000.

Sixteen organizations will be awarded for their work in these areas.

Caring for People (four winners): Programs or projects supporting educational initiatives, including fostering character and leadership development, academic excellence and community involvement in underserved youth.

Caring through Food (four winners): Programs or projects focused on addressing hunger and food insecurity facing children and their families.

Community (four winners): Programs or projects focused on providing housing and other direct services to support young people and their families.

Caring for our Planet (four winners): Programs or projects that show care for our environment and our planet, or that demonstrate environmental stewardship through initiatives directly related to our other True Inspiration Awards categories of food, community and people (i.e., community beautification, education opportunities, community gardens, outdoor classrooms, etc.) 

Our Mission

Our mission is to continue and further the philanthropic legacy of Gardner Cowles, Jr. and the Cowles family, which includes promotion of education, social justice, health, and the arts.

The Founder

The Cowles Charitable Trust was first established in 1948 by Gardner “Mike” Cowles, Jr. (1903-1985). Born into the Cowles publishing family of Des Moines, Iowa, Mike was the youngest of Gardner Cowles and Florence Call Cowles’ six children. A newspaper editor and publisher by trade, he was committed to his family’s traditions of responsible, public-spirited, and innovative journalism as well as philanthropy. 

The Cowles Charitable Trust supports the arts, education, the advancement of ethical journalism, medical and climate research.

About the Foundation

Jesse W. Couch lived a life of zeal, honor, and dedication to the betterment of his community. The Couch family now humbly stewards the foundation he created to carry on his legacy of service for future generations. We believe that impact is best accomplished through partnerships with local organizations that know the people and communities they serve. We invest in and support efforts to protect the environment, further conservation and preservation initiatives, and save historical architecture that preserves community heritage. We also support initiatives that promote wellness and mental health and organizations seeking to provide and further education for all communities.

Annual Grant Focus

Each year, we seek to partner with and support non-profit organizations making an impact in the focus areas listed here. 

The focus area for this year is Wildlife Conservation. We believe it's our duty to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. We envision a world where everyone works in harmony to protect what is important so that all life on this planet can thrive.

We have strong partnerships with nonprofit organizations across the country that are working to advance economic mobility and social progress in low- and moderate-income communities. Our focus areas include basic needs like food and housing, workforce development and education, and community development. In addition to our philanthropic investments, we also encourage our employees to make a difference by offering robust employee giving and volunteering programs, including the opportunity to direct funds to organizations they support through volunteer efforts, and a matching gifts program that doubles their individual giving to causes they care about. Last year, we invested $350 million in the communities we serve, and employees contributed more than 1 million volunteer hours and directed $65 million through individual giving and matching gifts to support nonprofits.Through our regional U.S. sponsorships, we support the economic, social and cultural life of the places we live and work. Grants are made at the Foundation’s discretion based on our current funding strategies focused on housing, jobs and hunger. 

Circle for Justice Innovations

Mission

CJI’s mission is to end mass criminalization and incarceration by building and strengthening the infrastructure of the grassroots criminal justice movement to fundamentally transform the U.S. criminal legal system. We fund where the movement is developing, shifting, and growing. We believe this movement should be led by those most impacted by the injustices of the current system, working in alliances across race, class, faith, gender, gender identity, sexuality, immigration status, and age.

Until She’s Free

The CJI Until She’s Free Fund is an innovative, participatory grant making circle comprised of community organizers, many of whom have experienced incarceration, donors, and donor activists. We share a passion for ending the racialized carceral state, a commitment to developing a new way of securing safety and addressing harm while reimagining structures of accountability. Understanding the limited funding available to specifically addressing the impact of the criminal legal system on women, girls, and gender-expansive people, this Circle was launched to create a new source of support for this critical work.

Until She’s Free is a grantmaking initiative strictly supporting women-led organizations addressing state-sanctioned violence against women and girls, including trans women and trans girls, and gender-nonconforming people, and their criminalization and subsequent incarceration, while also elevating their leadership in bringing about foundational change.

CJI’s Until She’s Free Funding Circle is requesting proposals from eligible grassroots organizations led by women, girls, and gender-expansive folx working to end the criminalization and incarceration of women and girls, including trans women and girls, and gender-expansive people. The fund will support grassroots organizing that is based on the awareness of the current political environment’s hostility toward the rights of women, girls, trans and gender-expansive people; is led by women, girls, trans and gender-expansive people directly impacted by the criminal legal system; and is working to restore or expand the rights of currently and formerly incarcerated women, trans and gender-expansive people.

Considering the increased criminalization of those who exercise rights over their own bodies and those who support people who do so, CJI has dedicated an increased percentage of our docket resources to supporting organizations working to challenge and end the retraction and blatant trampling of reproductive rights. Given the spike in violence against Asian, Black, and Muslim women, activists, and LGBTQI folx, as well as the determination of homicide as the leading cause of death for pregnant people, CJI’s Until She’s Free Fund will also support organizing that explores community-based, innovative solutions to keep these communities safe.

Funding Priorities (not restricted to the following)

The Until She’s Free Circle will continue to fund women and gender-expansive led organizations addressing state-sanctioned violence against women and girls, including trans women and trans girls, and gender-expansive people, and their criminalization and subsequent incarceration. Within that framework, the Circle is doubling down on its support to lessen the ways the system harms these communities by supporting:

• Ending the abuse-to-prison pipeline; ending patriarchal policies that inadequately protect women, girls, and gender-expansive people from abuse and violence; and those that criminalize them for self-defense.
• Organizing to demand an end to the routine separation of families, such as:
  • Abolition of immigrant detention, family separation, and ICE deportations.
  • Abolition of the family policing system, with the creation of a system truly designed to support and strengthen families in its place.
  • Ending cash bail, sentencing reform including clemency for women and gender-expansive people.
  • Moving birth outside of prisons and providing supportive services such as prenatal care, adequate and appropriate diets, and/or doula services, and other prenatal care to pregnant people with sentences.
• Organizing that supports reproductive justice, especially organizing to end the criminalization of people who exercise their reproductive rights and those who support their right to do so.
• Organizations that provide clear, leadership training and leadership opportunities for their members or supporters.
• Efforts to decriminalize drug use and provide community-based, culturally appropriate programs and treatment for women, girls, and gender-expansive people and pregnant people. 
• Transformative changes in systems of supervision for people with convictions.
  • Drastically reducing supervision of people released from jails or prison unless a proven reason for said supervision is evidenced, eliminating the use of electronic surveillance.

The Foundation was established in December 2013 by Kathryn B. McQuade, after retiring from 33 years of working in the business community. I was blessed to have been born into a loving middle class family. My father worked very hard to insure that all of his children were given an opportunity for a good education and my mother, “a stay at home Mom’ was always there for us. My world was safe and comfortable. My life is in stark contrast to how much of the rest of the world lives. I continue to read of the terrible injustices waged against women and children globally and hope that this foundation can provide them the opportunity and resources to succeed. We will support organizations that help us achieve our goal of Striving to make sustainable improvements in women and children’s rights education and welfare.

Women

The Foundation’s goal is to provide women assistance and provide them an opportunity to succeed. Assistance can take many forms, however our goal is to help them become self sufficient and enable them to lift themselves out of poverty and provide for their children. Access to education, job training and professional skills, even access to capital in order to build a business are possible ways we will consider helping women to succeed. Grant requests should focus on enabling the women to sustain financial independence.

We look forward to hearing of the many creative ways organizations are working on helping women succeed through out the world. To help women is to help their children and the communities they live in.

Children

Too many children in the US and across the world live in poverty and lack the access to education. Education and/or appropriate skills training are necessary to break the cycle of poverty and crime. While the assistance to women may take many forms, the foundation’s focus for children will target education and/ or skills training. The Foundation is open to many ideas on how to accomplish this goal and look forward to receiving proposals to help all children achieve their potential.

Indigo Oak Fund

The Indigo Oak Fund is a Colorado-based private foundation focused on education, the arts, women and children’s issues, and ensuring equal justice under the law. Our Mission is to recognize and advance individual potential and support effective programs which contribute to that purpose.

Studies show factors including race/ethnicity, health insurance status and income can affect the timing of a patient’s diagnosis and treatment, as well as their survival and financial impact. Working with our partners, we aim to reduce the risk of getting cancer and address socioeconomic barriers to care.

• Patients report that they feel more heard and are more compliant with medical guidance when they share race/ethnicity with their healthcare practitioner. Nearly a third of the U.S. population is Black or Hispanic, yet the combined Black and Hispanic representation among oncologists is 8 percent and the combined Black, Indigenous and Hispanic representation among pharmacists is 10.7 percent. Closing the gap between diverse representation among the general population and among healthcare practitioners will improve health equity and patient outcomes.

With the increased frequency and intensity of climate events, more people across North America need temporary or extended shelter, as well as food and medications, during and in the aftermath of crises. And with 10 percent of the population in both Canada and the U.S. living in food insecure households, programs to provide regular, nutritious meals to children, families and seniors can reduce chronic disease and improve long-term health.

Improving Veteran Mental Health

The Cigna Group Foundation is committing $9 million over three years to address the mental health of military veterans and the significant impact that social determinants of health have on the mental health of veterans. Specifically, in the first year of this commitment, we will focus on improving housing stability among veterans.

We seek to collaborate with and support nonprofit organizations that leverage evidence informed programs and services to help local veterans feel stable where they live and ultimately create positive impact on their mental health. This includes underserved populations such as women, Hispanic, and Black veterans.

For the first year, we are focused on investing in approaches that may leverage the Housing First model, but that is not required. We look forward to partnering with nonprofit organizations that align to at least one of these grant program goals:

• Increase permanent housing available for veterans.
• Improve affordability for housing for veterans through rental or mortgage assistance.
• Enhance the offering of wraparound services for veterans transitioning from shelters.
